A discussion about (Beowulf), (The Green Knight) and (Excalibur) In the first semester of Senior A Black, we learned, discussed, and dissected many famous pieces of literature from the renaissance time period. All of them were interesting in their own way but the 3 that interested me the most are (Beowulf), (The Green Knight) and (Excalibur). Every text has its own unique characteristics that make them interesting, and that is why I chose the following. The first text that caught my attention was (Beowulf). Beowulf was a powerful warrior of the Geats who comes to the rescue of Hrothgar, the king of the Danes. Throughout the story he encountered many opponents he had to fight against. They showed how strong Beowulf was but in the end the dragon was a symbol that it couldn't last forever. In (Beowulf), By announcing that it will be a “hand-to-hand combat”, he gains extra glory for himself and the Geatish king, Hygelac, turning the contest into a feat of strength as well as a fight against evil. These acts of strength and bravery make the story very interesting to me, as well as keeping me engaged. From carrying a 70 pound sword to fighting, this story was one of my favorites. …show more content…
A story about Gawain severing a green knights head. After this happens, the knight picks is head up from the ground and rides off exclaiming to look for the green chapel at the end of the year. This story really interested me because of is fiction. The events in the story make for a exciting suspense. In (The Green Knight), Gawain exclaims “ "I am the weakest [of your knight], I know, and the dullest-minded”. Although he is considered one of Arthur's best knights he says he isn't. Although he cheated by wearing the neck guard most would. This fictional story really interested me and began the stories of the headless
