Beowulf and Charlemagne differ in many ways. The most obvious difference is that Beowulf was a fictional character and Charlemagne was a real person. Charlemagne also was a Christian. He supported his religion in many ways. He made sure to be at every service, gave many gifts, and spent tons of money helping churches prosper. Beowulf, on the other hand, didn’t believe in Christianity. He believed in bards and was a spiritual person. He made choices that would benefit him and didn’t think about other people. Charlemagne, on the other hand, did good deeds for people because he cared. He was very compassionate and understanding. Charlemagne had no problem listening to others. He often took advice and asked for help. Beowulf was the opposite. He did not want help from anyone else and wanted to do everything on his own. Beowulf was a “big head,” as people would say. He didn’t think he needed help nor did he want any.
