Beowulf And Anne Frank Essay

After reading and studying the Epic poem Beowulf, I have discovered many differences between the hero, Beowulf and Anne Frank, such as their very existence, their enemies, and their cause of death. At the same time I have been very interested to find that there also many similarities between them. This leads me to believe that the characteristics of the Epic hero are still evident in heroes of today. This paper will discuss these three important similarities between Beowulf and Anne Frank to show my analysis of this conclusion. As a thirteen year old girl, living during this particular circumstance, she had to have an adequate amount of courage. “Those who have courage and faith shall never perish in misery”, said Anne Frank. The untypical girl demonstrates dramatic and clear wording in her diary. Her ability to be honest and display a sense of openness is exceptional. “I have lots of courage. Her determination allowed her to stay optimistic, with hopes that one day she would regain freedom again and have the ability to live her life as she wanted. Anne Frank allowed her self to become active in her own mind; her imagination of the world behind the closed curtains became so much more vivid. Her mental strength became a massive part of who she was. A reader believes if Anne Frank would have been a typical thirteen year old — thought she wasn't — life to her would've been trickier. She wouldn't be the joyful and energetic girl that we have known her to me. Heroes of Today and Yesterday are similar in there own specific way. The characteristics of The Epic Hero Beowulf are mirrored in today's society. Anne Frank and Beowulf are both heroes that were courageous, filled with compassion and very
