Beowulf: An Anglo-Saxon Epic Poem

Beowulf is an Anglo-Saxon epic poem that was written in the 8th century was written in England. Because it was written in the 8th century, we have an idea that the poem that was written during a time people were converting into Christianity. Hence, the influence of Christians were combined with early lords and heroic legends. What the pagan were combined of is an evident in superhuman personifications. He is known as a superhero. Beowulf takes it upon himself to save the Danes from Grendel. In his battle with Grendel, he chooses not to use weapons; but relies on his superhuman strength.

The author made reference to the doctoring of only one god by mentioning the creator. He further elaborate on this Creator in which he refers to the letter as “Eternal Lord, Almighty, and God.” It is obvious that all this four is the common way Christians do refers their God as. He did not only say that he also capitalized it which is highly biblical. With all these references, we can get an assumption that Beowulf is a Christian Poem. Furthermore, one and the most important thing that makes Beowulf a Christ Like story is that he know he is going to face a greater challenge than he did before which is exactly the same thing which Jesus Christ.
