I think to some people, that can be relatable to God. He travels overseas to save a kingdom, and to save people, who he does not know. He does not expect anything in return for his favor. Beowulf put his life on the line, to save others. That is a good example to relate to Jesus dying on the cross. Grendel on the other hand, comes only to bring death, grief, and sorrow. He does not care about others lives or well-being. Instead of the story ending happily ever after, after Beowulf kills Grendel, another vicious beast comes along... Grendel's mother. She sneaks into Heorot, and snatches up a man sleeping. The warriors are awoken, and run after her, and she retreats, bringing the man along with her. Hrothgar seeks Beowulf to find and kill her. He swims almost a day and finally, reaches her lair. She instantly sees him and tries to crush him, but his armor protects him. he tries to attack her with his sword, but instead it breaks. Beowulf finds a giant sword hanging in her lair, and slays her. The Devil seeks blood and revenge, and has no mercy. she is willing to kill people other the one that actually murdered her son, just to avenge her son. Beowulf again, risks his life, to protect a kingdom that wasn't his own, to preserve the lives of
