Beowulf: A Short Story

It was a dark, quiet night much like any other. I left my lair to feast on Hrothgar’s men. I was so hungry, something inside of me told me to turn back, but I couldn’t. My hunger pain had taken over. I crept up slowly and silently to the mead-hall where I spotted my prey. I had again felt this weird feeling to turn away and go home, but of course I ignored it. I picked out my victim one by one, and grabbed them off the floor swiftly and gnawed on their body limbs. As I reached for my next meal and bit his arm had moved and he became alive. Then I noticed it was Beowulf and he fought furiously, in which I had noticed I became frightened. I imagined him having wings on his back, then I reminded myself that he was only human. It was unnatural for this kind strength in a human even a man like him something wasn’t right about him in a desperate state Grendel struggled to loosen the firm grip of the man. With the struggle the other men attempted to help the man still holding him but the weapons had no effect on the skin once again. In despair Grendel tugged his arm free but it was as a fruitless attempt. The man was determined to hold his grip. He screamed from the top of his lungs, which only hurt my ears and I think he knew it because he did it over and over knowing how I drew back every time he did so. “ I am Beowulf who has come once again!” The man holding me said which he kept repeating this over and over. Finally I was close to the door, if I got the bother Beowulf off me so I can leave, but he found a way to keep me here. I pulled so hard one way and him the other way that it ripped my arm from the shoulder off. Still in panic I ran like a dog with its tail between his legs.
