Benzimidazole Compound 2

Decent Essays
The sequence of the reactions employed for the construction of novel indole–benzimidazole-based 1,2,3-triazole hybrids is demonstrated in Scheme 1. Compound 2 was prepared by treating propargyl bromide with 1H-indole-3-carbaldehyde (1) in presence of potassium carbonate in dry acetone at reflux temperature [26]. Compound 2 was further reacted by heating at reflux temperature with o-phenylenediamine (OPDA) in chloroform for 6 h afforded compound 3. Compound 3 coupled with variously substituted azides by Azide-Alkyne Cycloaddition reaction to afford title compounds 4a–j. The variously substituted azides were achieved according to the literature procedure [27,28]. In order to develop a high yield synthetic protocol for the synthesis of title compounds

Hazardous waste is dangerous to the environment and human health when not disposed properly, meaning cautions need to be taken seriously as chemistry students while working in lab. The objective of the Unknown White Compound experiment was to identify the compound by examining its chemical and physical properties. Identifying the unknown white compound to be potassium nitrate was achieved by completing the solubility test, flame test, pH paper test, ion test, pH probe test, conductivity probe test, and synthesizing silver nitrate and potassium chloride to form potassium nitrate. Uncertainty can be due to small contaminations from glassware not properly cleaned, molarity of chemicals not being exact, and not properly collecting the precipitate…

Goals The goal of the lab was to investigate the properties and structure of an unidentified compound that was discovered in a local landfill. The group was called in to help determine the chemical and physical properties of the compound so we can let the people of the town know so it can be taken care of properly with or without further precautions to be taken. Another goal of this project was to devise the synthesis of the unknown compound. Experimental Design In order to determine the correct identity of our unknown compound, we first started with a couple preliminary tests, which include physical state and smell.…

The purpose of this lab was to iodonize salicylamide and characterize the product in order to determine its structure. The crude product of this reaction was recrystallized using ethanol. The white crystalline product was isolated using vacuum filtration and characterized. The percent yield of this reaction was determined to be 39%. The observed experimental melting point of the product was determined to be 235-137 oC. When compared to the literature melting point 228 oC of the predicted product, 5-iodosalicylamide, it can be concluded that the product is very pure.…

For this experiment, a group was employed by the Environmental Protection Agency as analytical chemists. Their goal was to identify an unknown compound that has been discovered in a landfill in their hometown. Once they identified the compound, they would then have to determine both the chemical and physical properties of the compound in order to inform the townspeople of any potential dangers. During the first week of lab, the group was given a small bottle containing an unknown white crystal-like substance.…

It is also recommended by ICH that all routine impurities at or above the 0.1 % level, should be identified through appropriate analytical methods [7], [8], and [9]. In the synthesis of Posaconazole, the process related impurities are identified by MSN laboratories, they are Hydroxytriazole, Tosylated compound, Deshydroxy posaconazole and Benzylated posaconazole. (Fig.1) [10]. Therefore, it was thought worth determining the impurities of Posaconazole to ensure the quality, efficacy and safety of the active ingredient and final pharmaceutical formulation. The four processes related impurities, a method for analyzing Posaconazole in the presence of these impurities, and the degradants obtained during forced degradation studies was required to be developed for the method is to be stability…

Given an unknown compound in container 3, solubility tests, cation tests, anion tests, and conductivity tests can be used to determine the various properties of the unknown to then make a positive identification of the unknown. These results will not only show chemical and physical properties but also what the unknown compound might react with to form other compounds. After performing the four anion tests, a positive identification was able to be made showing that the unknown compound contained a chloride ion since a white precipitate was formed from the reaction (Table 1). The sulfate, nitrate, and carbonate tests all yielded negative results when no precipitate was formed. The reaction of the chloride anion is as follows: Cl-…

Along with this, the group is to discover the compounds many physical or chemical properties. Lastly, the group is supposed to create and preform two syntheses of the compound and see how they compare and contrast in different areas like costs effectiveness, safety, and potential yield of the compound. Through all of these different goals, the underlying key goal is to learn more about this unknown compound through the group’s own research and experiments.…
