Benjamin Franklin Character Traits

Benjamin Franklin was born January 17, 1706 in Boston, Massachusetts. He had ten siblings, seven step-siblings, and his father and mother were Josiah and Abiah Folger. They were both Puritans and protestants. They believed in hard work and equality and did not fail to teach Benjamin Franklin these good traits throughout his entire life. Being that his family was very poor, he was only to attend school for two years. That did not stop him from learning because he was a very enthusiastic reader. Benjamin Franklin along with the other six men were the ones who signed the Declaration of Independence, and The United States Constitution. He was a very important man in his lifetime. He was very well known for his achievements. In 1776 to 1785 he served as the United States Commissioner. In 1785 he was President of the Pennsylvania Abolition Society. This society helped many anti-slavery organizations. In October 18, 1785 he became the Supreme Executive Council of Pennsylvania. He served this position two times after his initial term. In 1787 there was a college founded after Benjamin Franklin. It was called The Franklin College but is now known as the Franklin and Marshall College. Benjamin Franklin died at the age of 84 on April 17, 1790. His legacy still lives on today through many things. He has many quotations that are known to have been coined. One of his quotations says, “A penny saved is a penny earned.” Benjamin Franklin was not only a smart man who achieved many of his goals, but he was a very successful investor.
