Franklin helped the Society for Political Inquiries to enhance the knowledge of government in 1787. He also helped abolish slavery in 1790. He served as a president of the Pennsylvania Society for Promoting the Abolition of Slavery. He wrote many tract to stop the abolition of slavery and petitioned the US congress to end the slavery and the slave trade.
