Benjamin Franklin is best known as one of the leading figures in early American history. Born into to a humble family, Franklin took his limited formal education and devoted his life to finding and sharing “useful information”. Not only did he keep up with technology trends from his childhood, he also organized groups of intellectuals and philosophers. One of these groups are best known today as the “Founding Fathers”. Together seven prestigious men structured the American government as we know today and left a mark which later created a legacy that shaped the world. Benjamin Franklin was the only founding fathers to have signed all four of the key documents. These document include: the Declaration of Independence (1776), the Treaty of Alliance with France (1778), the Treaty of Paris establishing peace with Great Britain (1783) and the U.S. Constitution (1787).
Before any of these great accomplishments made by Franklin, he was just like any ordinary child. He was born on January 17th, 1706 as the tenth child to soap maker Josiah Franklin and his wife Abiah Folger. Altogether Josiah had 17 children which later affected him when Josiah wanted Franklin to enter into clergy. He could only afford to send Franklin to school for one year while …show more content…
Franklin did so well with this job that the governor of Pennsylvania promised that he would set Franklin up with his own business if he would travel to London to acquire fonts and printing equipment. Once he arrived in London, the governor went back on his promise forcing Franklin to stay in England longer than he expected. Upon returning to Philadelphia, Franklin tried helping to run a shop but before long returned back to being a printer's helper. Sooner or later Franklin gathered some money and set up his own business. He seemed to be doing a better job then who he was working for so he a took the chance as soon as it came his
