Besides the almanac and the clock Benjamin Banneker was also appointed by George
Washington to be part of of the group who mapped out and planned how to build Washington

Him and Benjamin sent letters back and forth until finally Jefferson apologized about it, freed the slaves and spoke against slavery. A very very intelligent man who created an almanac for 6 years, the first working wooden clock, was part of the group that design Washington D.C., and he changed the thoughts of Thomas Jefferson about African Americans. Don’t forget “The colour of the skin is in no way connected with strength of the mind or intellectual powers” words of wisdom from the famous Benjamin Banneker.
