During this attack, four Americans were killed: U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens,
Foreign Service Information Management Officer Sean Smith, and CIA contractors and former
Navy SEALS Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty. The attack began during the night and lasted
through the next morning with ten people being injured as well. This attack has become a source
of mistrust against President Obama and his administration for the way it was portrayed and the
mistruths that have since emerged. The first mistruth revealed was the reason behind the attacks. After the attack was made
public, the White House and Administration stated the attack was …show more content…
She went on to say “we do not have
information at present that leads us to conclude that this was premediated or preplanned. (Interim
Progress Report), Also, families of the victims who died said that Secretary Hillary Clinton
told them she blamed the video and that Secretary Clinton was going to go after the person who
made the film (Ross). But according to the Interim Progress Report, it was reported that
“The coordinated, complex, and deadly attack on the Annex- that included sophisticated
weapons- is perhaps the strongest evidence that the attacks were not spontaneous” (Interim
Progress Report). If this were a protest, there would not have been such sophisticated
weaponry and casualties. Ohio Representative Jim Jordan revealed that Secretary Clinton
emailed her daughter on the day of the attack and stated terrorists from an “al-Qaida-like group”
attacked the Benghazi Mission (Ross). This proves the Administration was aware the attack was
provoked by terrorists and not protestors.
The second source of mistrust was the lack of security in the Benghazi Mission and
Secretary Clinton’s idea of security removal. The Interim Progress Report states that …show more content…
Mission in Libya, including Benghazi” (Interim Progress
Report). What this states is that Secretary Hillary Clinton signed a waver to remove some of
our security so if there was an attack, they security was far from dying from the attacks going on.
This leads to the third mistruth which is that the deaths in Benghazi were preventable. Peter
Ferrara stated in his article “Benghazi: Obama’s Actions Amount To A Shameful Dereliction Of
Duty”, “When President Obama and Secretary of State Clinton stepped into the Rose Garden the
Morning of September 12, they likely knew (Correction: they surely knew) the attack on our
Benghazi consulate the day before was organized by terrorists” (Ferrara 5). This shows that
President Obama and Secretary Clinton both knew that there was possibly going to be an attack.
“They knew because they were privy to a flurry of emails among administration officials
discussing the attack in real time” (Ferrara 5).This also states that they had emailed a lot of
people saying what was happening in the attack and not doing anything to help, thus killing U.S. ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and the four others to be killed and drug through the streets
