If kids go to school nine months of the year they might not have enough time to be a kid. Too much school time can put pressure on kids and pressure doesn't help grades. Kids also need to see family. If we have a longer school year, kids might not have time to see family from far away. You might have to spend a big chunk of your summer vacation to see family from far away. They also might not have enough time to spend with their own family at home after school with homework and activities.
Year long schools don't improve scores on tests. A psychologist at Ohio State University found no improvement on test scores for year long school compared with the normal nine month calendar. A reason could be because of increase of stress of a year long
