Students could contribute to their community or school through volunteer work. This would also help them with college resumes and NHS. Volunteer work would teach them responsibility, and perhaps even experience with customers. Of course, even the most overachieving students aren't going to do community service every day of the week. People need to relax, especially those in their high school years. Teenagers are not meant to be as stressed as they are. Study hall would relieve some stress originally caused by an excessive amount of homework, which study hall would also regulate outside of school. On the other hand, many believe that students would instead become lazy. In reality, students would just have more time for things like volunteer work, studying, family time, and perhaps a job. This would considerably reduce time on homework outside of school, resulting in more free time for
