Many students find it easier to focus on academics when they aren’t being distracted by members of the opposite sex, and may find it easier to participate actively in classes where everyone is the same sex (Co-ed). Single- sex classrooms offer many more benefits than traditional classrooms. Studies have shown that boys and girls learn differently while in the classroom. Breaking down stereotypes, classroom settings and removing the distraction of the opposite sex are just a few of the benefits from single sex classrooms. Single sex classrooms are better for students because of all of the educational benefits they offer to the students. Even though separating students from the opposite sex will not prepare them on how to interact with the opposite sex in society, same sex schools are better than coed schools for …show more content…
A few of the reasons people are against this type of schooling is because it separates the students from the opposite sex, the maturity rate in boys, and because of the lack of educators. Some parents believe that separating students from the opposite sex will not prepare them on how to interact with the opposite sex in society. They believe that when students are in single sex schools, they will not be prepared and know how to interact with the opposite sex when it comes to work after they get out of school (Stanberry). They also think that because boys mature lower than girls, that without girls being present they will not mature as fast because there are no girls to influence them (Pros and Cons of Single-Sex Education). Teachers are also a factor in why some people are not in favor of single sex schools. Many teachers do not have the training to teach the student techniques that are geared toward their gender (Pros and Cons of Single-Sex Education). They believe that these schools will not prepare the students for life outside of these
