Currently, I am an assistant teacher in a full day Kindergarten class. I am amazed at how fast some of my students are learning the information they are provided where as others are struggling. Those who are learning, I noticed are benefitting from rote memorization. This skill is highly reinforced at this age, because it is a vital skill they need to be able to use as they continue their educational paths. The activities in my class that rote memorization is used is when the students are learning their numbers, shapes, ABC’s, colors, and site words. Ms. Cudney the head teacher, goes over a certain concepts daily during her circle time and she also plays YouTube videos that are specifically created for children to help them memorize concepts
