“My dog is my true best friend and he helps me get through the good and horrible times.” About 68 percent of U.S citizens own a pet. However they are more than just a pet people say they help with stress and getting through the tough things in life. Although there people who say that they are just pets and they have no purpose and have no benefits to people in life. Mental health, physical health, and they enhance the quality of life are all reasons why pets are a benefit to humans. Pets are beneficial to humans because they are good for helping with mental health. Many people deal with anxiety from school and work having a companion can help you relieve from anxiety. There are a lot of people that are stressful and very lonely all the time. For example, in source 2 it states “People who live alone find that having a pet reduces feelings for loneliness.” This shows how people can enhance a person's life. “The study looked at more than 1,800 patients and found that those who did not have a pet were more than twice as likely to report symptoms of depression.” For instance, in source 2 it states “A study of AIDS patients conducted by UCLA, in 1999 found that pets provide a level of companionship that helped the patients cope with the stress of their illness.” This demonstrates why pets are beneficial to humans. This is another reason why pets are very beneficial to humans. To conclude, Mental health,physical health, and enhancing of human life are reason why pet are a benefit to humans. A people should at least try owning a pet to see how they help deal with stress and other difficult times. A dog is truly a man's best friend and we should not just pets they are a part of your family. So if you are dealing with a lot of tough thing and need a companion than you should get a pet.
