In November of 2012, it became legal for adults over the age of 21 to purchase and sell marijuana in the states of Colorado and Washington. However, there is a limit on the amount you can buy and sell. In fact, the use of marijuana was legal in the United States until the 1970’s when the Controlled Substances Act was signed by President Nixon (“Marijuana). Marijuana should become legalized in the United States for the following reasons: health benefits of medicinal marijuana, positive impact on the economy, and public opinion. By legalizing marijuana, many people would benefit. The first step to legalizing recreational marijuana is to legalize medical marijuana.
