If the U.S. had a prime opportunity to imperialize a foreign planet, they should not take the time to do this. It would be a bad idea to imperialize the planet because it would cost lots of money to send humans and supplies over to the new planet, the beings currently there might not take kindly to human presence, and other countries would try to take over and could start a battle because the planet would contain many types of resources that people would not be able to find on earth. First of all, it can be very expensive to send a couple of people into space, much less a whole colony. The Apollo Program by itself costed about $25.4 billion dollars according to NASA. This means that the average cost of one mission out of the seventeen would cost about $1.5 billion dollars in 1970, which is about $9.5 billion dollars today. However, this is only a mission to the moon. Assuming that this other newly discovered planet is extremely far away, $9.5 billion dollars would be nothing compared to the cost of this mission. Additionally, there are more factors to be included in the funding. If NASA is trying to replicate the Mars One initiative, …show more content…
As humans we like to improve and change things and there is the possibility that the beings on this planet do not. They could like the way they live and might not like to change their culture and traditions. If we do try to imperialize this planet, there could be negative consequences like war with the planet’s people. If we try to imperialize this planet it would take a lot of agreements and rules set between our people and the people on this planet. It could cause maybe different disagreements and unfair situations that could cause major problems. The people on this planet shouldn’t be forced into adapting to our life if they are happy with the way they live
