The waste fluid leads to contaminated air, acid rain, and ground-level ozone. These contaminants can lead to several serious health problems, although the worst by far is the effect the contaminants have on our immune and reproductive systems, which goes hand in hand with fetal and child development. A 2014 study proved that mothers who live near fracking sites are thirty percent more likely to give birth to an infant with a congenital heart defect. Hydraulic fracking is affecting everyone, including the generations to come. The federal government should implement laws that will set restriction on the natural resource companies. The companies should not be able to frack as close to residential and urban areas as they are, since they induce dangerous diseases in the …show more content…
For instance, the fracking process causes earthquakes. Regions that have not experienced fault movements in million of years are now unstable. Earthquakes cause disastrous damage, and leave communities rebuilding for years to come. Additionally, the release of methane gas during fracking leads to climate change and global warming. I believe that global warming is not a hoax, and our world is dying because of it. The Great Barrier Reef, a place I have always wanted to see, will most likely die before I get the chance to see it. Global warming has caused more than one million species to go extinct, and this has all happened in the last one hundred years. In a century, humans have been able to use up almost every available resource we have, and kill species that have been around for millions of years. Governments around the world need to invest in environmentally friendly technology in order to save our Earth. We are only going to get one chance at a plant that sustains life, and we are wasting this amazing opportunity
