Do the benefits of going to college outweigh other life choices that people make? Is college what it is always exaggerated to be? These are some of the questions I approached my brother, Marlon Andrews, with to compare and contrast the benefits of college. At this point my view was that college was necessary in order to get a good income despite the stress involved in its tasks. My goal through this interview was to help towards my decision about attending college. I decided to ask questions regarding factors that affected people’s decisions to go to college. These questions had to do with independence, finance, happiness, and work habits. I started my approach by asking about going away for college. Is it more beneficial for one to go away or stay in his opinion? He responded by saying that college gives a good experience regardless of whether you stay or go away. He said either way you will experience a change in the comfortability that teachers provide you when you attend high school. According to him regardless of the situation, this is the first time students are generally left responsible for themselves with real deadlines that give no exceptions which causes one to mature if they stay consistent. He stated that even though he stayed home for college that he wished he had went away in order to see how life is on his own as his friend did. Although there are many struggles in college I decide to go because I feel it is a positive experience with many benefits. As a follow up to my questions I asked Marlon what he had thought about college in which we both shared similar ideas on its benefits. Finance, happiness, work habits, and independence are all major factors that affect why one may attend or not attend college.
