his facebook shares for charity, the eyes of the world focused again on this young and successful
entrepreneur. On February 4, 2004 in a normal college domitory, Harvard College’s sophomore
Mark and his roomates launched the website of Facebook, which started a new era of social media
and in some sense transformed people’s way of life. With more than 10 years of development,
Facebook has become not only a platform for people to chat with each other online, but a big stage
where people around the world share everything of their lives. As facebook has become one of the
most popular social media in the world, I want to dicuss the benefits and …show more content…
Firstly, before talking about its specific benefits, let’s see what exactly functions facebook has.
On August 22, 2006, “Facebook Notes” was first introduced. It is a blogging feature that allowed
users to post words and images within a friends’ circle. “Facebook Chat” was added on April 6,
2008. It is a Comet-based instant messaging application which allows users to communicate with
other Facebook users in a way similar in functionality to instant messaging software. On May 14,
2007, Facebook launched Marketplace, which lets users post free classified ads. Then from 2011,
Facebook introduced the “Voice Call” and “Video Call” via Skype. Ever since, Facebook has
become more and more powerful. Accordingly, more and more people chose to use Facebook as
their main social media app. As of the third quarter of 2015, Facebook had 1.55 billion monthly
active users, which reflects its big success over the world.

know more about someone else in a really fast and convenient way.
2.Serve as personal account to register other website.
In today’s Network World, in order to get more active users, many websites ask people to sign
up to become their members, otherwise they won’t provide further information in the website.
Gradually, people become tired of registering those websites using their e-mail and remembering a
series of passwords; and they may take a risk of receiving tons of junk mails. Fortunately, as
Facebook has become a necessity for nearly all of the netizens, many websites started to provide an
option for people to sign up by logging in their Facebook account. By doing this, people don’t have
to register a new account every time when they enter a new website, whcih save them lots of time
and energy. On the other hand, the way of “Facebook Logging” provides those website controllers
with more real data of their website visitor, their potential members. As a result, the
