Dry Brushing: Quick and Easy to Do

Like many people, we give careful attention to the skin of our face but not to the entire body. When was the last time you had a brushing to clean the rest of your skin? A lot of spas offer dry brushing as part of their service but this can also be done at home for your own convenience. It is a simple beauty regimen that takes only around five to ten minutes out of your day before showering. It costs nothing and is highly beneficial in supporting skin health, blood circulation and relaxation of the body.

Dry brushing of skin has long been a part of Ayurveda’s cleansing philosophies 5,000 years back originating from India and is known by many to be the oldest healing science. It may sound like a regular brushing when using a loofah while taking a bath, dry skin brushing follows a certain pattern to make it more effective. The skin must be brushed toward the heart, starting at the feet and hands and then brushing towards the chest.
