The text “Why it’s super cool to be yourself at school” is about being yourself and the benefits of being yourself. Sabrina Yates is the author of this text. She starts with explaining how to be yourself. A lot of people, especially teens, may find it hard to know who they really are and who they want to be. “Zorgof? Zorgof the outsider?! Is it really you?” I shouted. “Yes, Zorbon the decider Decider I am”, he answered. “I am here to give you superpowers, just like your brother Zack has. We didn’t mean to give Zack superpowers, we meant to give them to you, but we got the wrong person”, Zorbon said. “Really? Luckily for you, we can give you some superpowers”. “We will give you six powers of your choice, choose wisely”.

That would be really cool” I asked. “Yes of course, but you are going to have to help us, whenever we ask you to”, Zorbon said. “Can you promise me that? I mean you are a superhero now; it is your job”. “I promise; I will do whatever you need me to”. “Okay good.”

Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona’s graphic novel Runaways: Pride and Joy is a short story that illustrates the importance of not only growing up and becoming independent, but also creating one’s own life path rather than following the one that one’s parents have forced upon him or her. By following a group of youths – Alex, Chase, Gert, Karolina, Molly, and Nico – that unite to fight against their supervillain parents, Vaughan and Alphona demonstrate that, while a child is genetically predisposed to have characteristics, or “superpowers”, either identical to or similar to those of his or her parents, he or she need not use them in the same way as his or her parents. In the present-day city of Los Angeles, Alex, Chase, Gert, Karolina, Molly,…

Then she introduced me to some of her newer friends who were in the same grade as me. They were nice people and they got me through the first year of high school, but I never felt like I belonged to “their group”.…

The source of my pleasure and delight shifted from books to parties, writing to boys, and video-games to my social life. Something within me desperately craved to be normal- to no longer be the girl that gets harassed and ostracized for being an “appalling nerd” and because of this, vital aspects of my personality began to change and I morphed into an entirely different person. Through this journey, I learned that my self-hate was a catalyst for self-love and appreciation. Having always been considered an unusual girl in the eyes of my peers, I'd never been truly comfortable in my skin.…
