Benefits Of Being Vegan

During high school, I learned to be patient, kind, and respectful to children under the age of 12. With this in mind, I believe that I am able to do the same and more with humans that are a couple years younger or older than me. Most of the counselors are energetic, respectful, welcoming, and understanding, but I know that I will contribute those characteristics and more because of my background. Being Vegan makes me a little more understanding of the people that feel like they don’t belong in a group or even society. Being an adventurous person helps me understand other people that also enjoy extreme sports, outdoor activities, and rare things that some people don’t even know about. In summary, I really don’t know how to put myself into words,

Everyone has heard about one fad diet or another. The Paleo Diet, you only eat what cavemen ate, the Atkins Diet, you eat only meat and avoid those sinful carbs, and the Juice Diet, you guessed it you only drink juice, to name just a few. The one thing that these diets have in common as that they have a goal which is to lose weight. On the other hand the Vegan Diet is not only a way of eating but a way of life, which is what makes it so damaging and isolates those from their omnivore peers. Living the Vegan lifestyle means that you completely forgo any meat, or food produced by animals which include milk, cheese, and eggs.…

I, Leo Davidson, was born in Vermont, on March 23, 2002. I grew up with my parents who were great role models. I’ve never been held back, and my grades are on average. While growing up, I came into conflict with the “norms” in my community a lot. I’ve never been a “people’s” person and don’t plan on becoming one any time soon.…

My personal philosophy is to be accepting. For example, I am in Peer Connections, a class where students help in the Special Education classrooms at Pioneer. I help teach students with multiple cognitive and physical impairments during 5th hour everyday. This class has allowed me to spread acceptance through our school as I share my experiences and recruit others for the class and the corresponding club, which I am also a part of. As a member of the Project Unify club, I help make sure that students in the Special Education department have normal high school experiences, like going to prom, football games, and pep assemblies.…

Throughout the majority of my life, I was self-conscious and constantly worried about how I was perceived by others. As a child, I had always felt slightly out of place among my peers. I was just a little too quirky to fit into any of the groups at my school and I was too shy to force my way into one. I could not exactly understand what made me so different from my classmates and I desired more than anything to gain the self-confidence to express myself.…

Anthropocentric idealism is destroying the earth; to believe humans are the most important being on the planet is ridiculous, and extremely selfish. Because of this ideal, non domestic animals are considered of lesser value, and are used for our benefit (whether it be for food, clothing, or other goods.) These animals are not afforded the rights that all living beings deserve- the right to a pain free life and the right to live. This is what vegans fight for, they fight for animal rights, and the end of animal based products to create a healthier and more humane earth. Veganism is a lifestyle that aims to avoid as much abuse and exploitation of animals as possible.…

I went to the co-op on Labor Day to get groceries for the week. I witnessed a wide variety of people shopping at this small town version of Whole Foods. There were people all over the spectrum, most notable were a hippie, a family with a mother and 3 children, and a woman with her dog in the store. The hippie rode a bike to the store and he was wearing a super bright tie-dye t-shirt, a long beard and hair down to at least his hips. I admired the hippie man’s simplistic lifestyle choices, obviously opting out of traditional practices like shaving, or brushing hair.…

In the beginning of my freshman year of high school, I was the introvert, shy, stay at home type of kid. I never liked to be bothered with helping out the community or giving back to the less fortunate because I always viewed myself as the “less fortunate”. By the end of the second semester of freshman year, it didn’t take much persuasion for me to sign up for Keystone Club at Boys & Girls Club and I never regretted either. Many of my skills and strengths that I have today was gained from Keystone. I learned how to communicate with people from all the field trips we took, the presentations we presented, and expressing our thoughts and ideas.…

You also don’t purchase anything that has done no good to an animal, like buying leather shoes, couches, etc… you also have to watch out for beauty products, because several brands test on animals, they also use minks to make false eyelashes out of. It says so much water, rain forests, and an animals life.…

However, my decision to provide aid at my community’s senior center helped me gain a new perspective about my way of living, and it has allowed me step out of my narrow perspective of social situations.…

My background is central to my identity, because who I was then and the memories I have now, with the things that happened to me throughout my life, have changed me into who I am today. Yet, in the past few years, I have changed drastically and still am growing into the person I want to be. The three main sections, and or concepts, that make me who I am today, are who I was, who I am and who I will be. Beginning with, who I was, I was never a child that wanted to be out in a crowd with others, especially with others I didn’t agree with.
