School times can sometimes be absurdly early, but because of later start times some problems stir up. Later school start times can increase grades and the well being of the kids, but the downfall of that is that schools have to pay extra for more buses because usually a district only has a few busses, which then makes the school start times staggered. Although the wellbeing of kids is far more important. The idea of staggering school time is smart but if its hurting the health of people I would pay the extra money to keep kids safe. The first reason that school should start later is because it will allow kids to be more well rested and makes it easier to focus.…

Each year, school districts are faced with a growing population of students. The issue with this is that many districts have a shortage of school facilities, and they are limited to the amount of money they can spend on each of these facilities. To handle this issue, school districts around the world have adopted a year-round school calendar to ensure they are using these existing school facilities to their full ability. Year-round schooling arranges the breaks differently, causing students to be in school all throughout the year, rather than having three months off in the summer. In addition to maximizing the use of the schools, year-round schooling improves student learning and saves money in the long run.…

LIT1 Task A SOLE PROPRIETORSHIP: • LIABILITY – The owner and the business are considered as one and so the owner has unlimited liability for the business. Therefore the all of the owner’s personal assets, the business’s assets and the business’s future earnings may be at risk. • INCOME TAXES – All income for the business goes on the owner’s personal income tax returns whether federal, state or local. One advantage of the sole proprietorship is that the business is not a separate entity and therefore is only taxed once on this income, and another advantage is that all business liabilities may be written off as expenses to offset income. Asset depreciation is an example of this.…

The Benefits Year-Round Schooling Since the beginning of time, teaching and learning has been a detrimental part of what makes us able to innovate and experience the world around us. A form of schooling introduced in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s was a year round school system (Pedersen, "The History of School and Summer Vacation"). This system allowed for more days within the learning period and allotted for students to get more out of their education. Research from all the way back to a hundred years ago has shown that students tend to lose information and their footing during a traditional summer vacation (Fairchild, "Why and how communities should focus on summer learning."). The current system most public schools within the…

The year-round schooling program often receives a thumbs-down due to the additional burden it places on parents. With frequent breaks under the year-round education system, working parents will have to scramble for daycare arrangements. According to Pearson and Geier (2014), families can end up having siblings on different attendance schedules. If children in one family are not on the same school schedule, it will not be possible to arrange family vacations. A community member interviewed by the Florida Times Union (2014) also adds, “Like the failed school uniform policy, the year-round schools calendar failed due to failure to capture the hearts and minds of parents who complained of having to change or cancel family vacation.”…

The article that I chose to read was, The Effects of After-School Tutoring on an Individual ELS Student, written by Amanda Donahue (2002). The purpose of the action research project was to see if by participating in an After-School class with the teacher, the student would stay in school and inspire them to make progress in school. Since motivation is one of the main reasons ELLs drop from school, Ms, Donahue wanted to see if they had motivation and praise the students would increase their grades and performance, and essentially graduate from High School. I chose this article because it felt close to the issue that I am exploring in my action research project, the motivation for Long Term English students and see if I could implement it as…

On average, people forget 40 percent of what they have learned within the time span of 20 minutes. Throughout the course of just six days the average person would recall just 23 percent of what they have learned. Concluding that if a teacher were to give a 20 minute lecture on the civil war, and then he was to give a test on it, most students would score no higher than a mere 65 percent, even though the information was given to them recently. So then if students cannot even recall a quarter of learnt material within six days, then what would happen if the material had not been refreshed or reviewed within 60 days.…

Children also lose focus with educational activities when they are at home because parents don’t pay enough attention to their children.
