ADD/ADHD is the condition I picked, I chose this condition because because my youngest brother was diagnoses with ADHD in the 5th grade. His school teachers have recommended since that time period that he take medication for it. My parents have always been against giving my brother medicine such as vyvanse or Adderall. They were concerned with the negative side effects it could cause. My bother is now a junior and High School and has always had a though time in school, he wouldn’t get his work turned in on time. He was always getting distracted in class, and my parents had finally gave up not listening to teachers who recommend the medication. My brother started his junior year taking vyvanse and he has not struggled like he was. His work is getting turned in on time, and he has maintained passing grades without the help of us. I want to get a better understanding of what he deals with, and also I feel as if I struggled with ADD/ADHD when I was in middle school and early High School, but I recognized what problems I was having that were making me fall behind and I overcame it by finding new ways to help me stay focused and learn, I am curious to know if it is possibility that I have it and it wasn’t diagnosed. I also now know that ADHD is not a small struggle, and it can affect all different aspects of peoples life’s and can carry on to adulthood. Also, as I mentioned I’ve had thoughts that I may have ADD and during the research of doing this assessment I did read that is common for girls to go undiagnosed. “Girls with ADD or ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) are often under-diagnosed.
