Electricity Vs Wind Energy Essay

Today there are many debates on what we, Humankind, should do about our environmental problems such as pollution, trash disposal, recycling, saving trees, .etc. People have been trying to find more cost effective and efficient mean of producing electricity instead of the use of fossil fuels that hurt the environment and wildlife around us. Each year about 1.7 billion pounds of pollution are pumped into the air a day by coal plants alone, which is quite a lot. But what about Eco-friendly methods of obtaining energy to power houses, commercial, and industrial buildings? Are they as practical and safe for the environment/wildlife as some people say they are? Are they worth investing and developing for the modern world today? Can the world rely …show more content…
One such disadvantage is the visual impact on the land, since they are very large and quite tall to capture the wind, they may not compliment the land very well because they are very obtrusive. Another major disadvantage is that the wind does not always blow, so the wind turbines would be useless if there was no wind to spin the blades which generates electricity. Although meteorologists can predict wind patterns and place them in areas where the wind will most likely flow, meteorologists wont always predict the weather patterns right. The weather patterns are always changing, so if previous wind plants were placed in an area where the wind had flowed greater, that may not be so in a couple of years or decades. Another disadvantage would the required maintenance, but most moving parts need maintenance sometime in their life. And even though these wind turbines are supposed to be Earth/Wildlife friendly, bats can still be affected by them since they rely on sound waves to fly. When bats send out a sound wave it may move in between two blades causing the bat to think that it is safe to keep flying where it is headed, but as it is moving, so may the blades and it might fly right into the wind

Some days the wind won 't blow therefor no energy is produced .This is because as u all know that the wind doesn 't blow all the time. And for wind energy to be produced the wind has to be blowing enough to propell the blades on the turbine along enough to produce energy . This is really the best reason for why the wind energy is not taken off right now . Little maintenance and high energy outputs equals the energy of the future.…

    • The wind energy depends on wind velocity. Wind velocities at different heights were expressed in terms of the corresponding available velocities at equal heights with and without reducer turbines. The results show that wind speed increases with reducer, starting with 1.35 times at the top of the reducer. The maximum increase is noticeable at about 300 slopes.…

When kinetic energy that is converted into mechanical power by wind the process is called wind energy. Wind energy has been around since the 5000 B.C. and was invented by China and Persia. It was used to propel boat across the Nile river. Also, wind energy is the fastest growing source of electricity in today's society. Finally, a single wind turbine can produce enough energy to power 500 houses.…

Wind farms rely on a multitude of variables that affect the wind which powers the turbines all staggered by one another and then proceeds to turn absurdly large blades which in turn generates electricity after it’s all said and done. Wind turbines can range from 200 feet to 30 feet, supplying power for power grids all the way down to power for individual homes, respectively. The largest drawback to using air currents to generate power is nearly inarguably and unsurprisingly the initial cost of such a system; however, this cost is nearly inconsequential when factoring in the benefits of the system over its lifetime ("Wind Energy…

INTRODUCTION Energy sources are a vast number but not all of them are renewable and those that are non-renewable are not going to cater for the next generations if we do not change to live conservatively and sustainable . The non-renewable energy sources not only are damaging our environment, they are also depleting . This means that the future generations will not get the benefits we are getting today from our environment if we are not starting to change our values and attitudes towards the use of the energy sources. Sources of energy More concentrated energy sources are used and are categorized into renewable and non-renewable energy. Renewable energy sources are those sources that can be replenished over and over again, that is they do…

An advantage of growing corn for use in ethanol production is that corn is a readily available crop in the United States, and there would no longer be a need to import materials to produce fuel. This would also benefit the agriculture industry by providing more jobs to corn planters. Going this route also would lessen the dependence on the Middle East and other countries for oil and fuel. Growing corn for use in ethanol production would also be a more energy efficient way, because there would be less travel of products, resulting in less energy consumption. Disadvantages of growing corn for use in ethanol production would be that it takes fuel to produce and process the corn.…

If there was the possibility of changing the fate of the world for the better, would the people do it? At this very moment we are burning up fossil fuels that we will never be able to replenish. There is a clock running on how long we can make fossil fuels last, and that clock is ticking down every day every hour. We were made to evolve and learn, so let’s do so. Let’s focus on finding a new way to power the world that does not poison it.…

This article is about how wind and nuclear power have a better alternative power source than coal and fossil fuel. It also talks about how the USA is switching to renewable power generating sources. In addition, there are pros and cons to these renewable power resources for generating power. For instance, wind power is a good source of power, but can cause too much power generation and sometimes cannot produce enough power. However, nuclear power is a good source of constant power, but does not offer enough power for high power demand.…

When comparing the technological world of today with that of hundreds of years ago, it is amazing how much technology has advanced and evolved into essential aspects of everyday life. Fifty years ago, inventions such as electricity, railways, and the internet were non-existent. It is hard to believe that in today’s day in age, everyone is so dependent on these creations. They have connected the world in ways that were thought to be impossible hundreds of years ago. The world went from having no electricity, railways, or internet, to being reliant on these inventions every single day.…

When it comes to the topic of investing the government 's money, one controversial issue has been whether or not we are spending it properly. On the one hand, some people will argue that the government should invest more money expanding oil and gas. While others contend developing wind and solar energy would be the smartest way to go. Mark Lewis argues that oil prices could stay so low that is no longer economic to bring in high cost new oil fields. But even if the oil price does rise, it will not be able to compete with a renewable such as solar and wind.…

DISADVANTAGES OF WIND ENERGY IN SA  The major disadvantage of wind power is down to the winds unreliability factor. In most areas, the winds strength is too low to support a wind turbine or wind farm, and this is where the use of solar power could be great alternatives.  Wind turbines generally produce less electricity than the average fossil fueled power station, requires multiple wind turbines to be built in order to make an impact.…
