Is a college degree actually worth the time and money it takes to achieve it? Some may believe so, some may think the complete opposite. There are a lot of factors that go into the choice of going to college, such as what major you want, how long it is going to take, and if you can afford it. People pay thousands of dollars just so that they can get a piece of paper that has their name on it saying that they have gotten their college education. In some ways college can seem that it is broken and that individuals need to find a way to fix it. Even though a college degree takes time and money to obtain, it is still worth it; however, college can be improved in some aspects. If we cut student loans it can be possible that the economy can benefit. “Forgiving student loan debt would have an immediate stimulating effect on the economy. Responsible people who did nothing other than pursue a higher education would have hundreds if not thousands of extra dollars per month to spend, fueling the economy now” (Applebaum, 68).If student loan debts are forgiven it is not only going to help out students by making it more affordable for them to go to a school to get a better education, but it will also help out the economy by giving those students extra money to spend. It is shown that distance learning does not help the experience of college. “And it’s the mysterious ways of cultivating that style that the poet Robert Frost meant when he said that you ‘hang around until you catch on.’ Hanging around, that is, on campus, not lurking on the Net” (Barszcz, 77). If you are hanging around until you get it that means that if you are not completely understanding something there are a plethora of ways to go about understanding it, you can go to an on campus tutoring center, or talk to the professor or classmates for help. There are a lot of experiences that you cannot get from taking an online class alone. You do not get to interact with your professors or classmates and if you do not understand something you can not get the proper help that you may
