The controversial topic of body-worn cameras have been around for a few years. With body cameras being a relatively new idea, law enforcement agencies need body cameras to reduce assaults, complaints, and increase relationships between officers and civilians. If all cities across the united states could adopt the technology of body-worn cameras it could lead to a drop in assault cases, false accusations on officers, and an increase in successful prosecutions in the federal court system. Body cameras are a beneficial investment for the training of officers, court cases, behavior of civilians and officers, and accurate evidence. Body cameras serve as a great tool for training officers. Officers can look over the footage and view how to correctly apprehend a suspect, conduct stops, and keep control of a situation. Most of the studies documented a reduction in citizen complaints against officers, and reductions in the number assaults on officers and the use of force committed by officers. Body-worn cameras create a real time, permanent record of what happens during any event during a police-civilian encounter. This video documented is very helpful and important to resolving cases. Officers and citizens are more compliant, and the relationship between officers and the people increase with less violent acts committed by both parties.
