To first perform this experiment a beaker of water was set to boil on a hot plate while samples of serum and benedicts reagent were collected. Six test tubes were gathered and labeled by which blood vessel the serum was collected from and by which category, either postprandial or fasting. Then by using a metric ruler two measurements were placed on the bottom of each tube, one at one centimeter and one at two centimeters. This was to indicate how much serum and Benedict’s reagent to use, serum to the first mark and Benedict’s to the second marking.
