Love is interpreted to be a complex set of emotions and behaviors associated with strong feelings of affection, protectiveness, warmth, and respect for another person. In William Shakespeare's novel Much Ado About Nothing, marriage and friendship are almost eradicated by the deceptive actions and words of a callous man. But in truth, they both were just two dispirited people pining for one another after their failed engagement. Similar to modern-day couples, who attempt to cover their sorrow with separation tactics: seeming to be moved on or being disdainful toward their ex-partner, Benedick and Beatrice both behave this way.
