Beneatha Younger is the daughter of Lena Younger. She’s ambitious like her brother and dreams of becoming a doctor. The poem “Harlem” relates to A Raisin in the Sun because it talked about dreams and/or ambitions, which Beneatha has. the poem says they can either “dry up in the sun” or “fester like a sore- and then run”. This is saying that your dreams can either succeed or fail depending how you go about them. My character, Beneatha, fits the dream theme because she is determined to do more than just “get by” in life. She would like to better herself and also express herself. She’s a 20 year old college student looking to become a doctor. In act three she says “That was what one person could do for another, fix him up- sew up the problem,
