Ben Franklin was a very intelligent man when it came to his inventions. He created successful and useful things that to this day is still used in everyday life. His inventions of bifocals, the cast iron stove, light poles and even paper money is still used today; it’s only been modified for modern day time. One of Ben Franklin’s inventions that stands out to me is the glass armonica, although this invention is often forgot I believe that it has helped the entire world and different cultures with the inventions of different instruments throughout the centuries. Without the glass armonica would we have some of the instruments we have today? The glass armonica is a unique and one of a kind instrument that has made modern day music what it is

It can emit both short and long notes depending on the duration and method by which the glasses are touched by the performers, and it also has the ability to give depth to sound even though it is a lighter piece being played. The next video shows a man who is both a musician and a comedic acrobat. The first performance by Michel Lauziere shows him roller blading in between glass bottles that he has strategically set up so that each emits a certain sound when the stick attached to his roller blades its it. The Latin word “errata” is a notation in writing or in a print to mark mistakes into a correct structure. In the Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin, Franklin mentioned the Latin word errata instead of just English word “mistakes” perhaps to emphasize a part that he would like for his son to pay special attention to or perhaps use another language to hide the meaning inside this word, but make it so that his son would eventually figure out about the hidden meaning. There are four important times Franklin had put “errata” to mark his mistakes in life. The first erratum he had made was with his brother, James, working as an indenture in his brother’s shop. Due to his brother unable to publish articles, Franklin took the responsibility of his…

Benjamin Franklin once said: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." That quote often comes up in the context of new technology and concerns about government surveillance. Simply put; and I'm paraphrasing here; but Ben Franklin essentially said at one point, those who would exchange self-government for a bit of security deserve neither to be self-govern nor security. The quotation is considered to come from a letter that Franklin had written on behalf of the Pennsylvania General Assembly. Very few citizens who quote these words, however, have any idea where they come from or what Franklin really meant when he wrote them.…

Benjamin Franklin and Ralph Waldo Emerson shared very similar ideas in regard to human behavior, yet these two men believed in opposing outcomes that derived from following these relatively similar life styles. Emerson and Franklin both believed that by controlling one's desire and impulsive nature, one could vastly improve themselves as well as their own purpose in society. That discipline and thoughtfulness were cornerstones to a productive life. Their results, however, at times contrast greatly. Ralph Waldo Emerson worked to better himself through the discovery of knowledge while Benjamin Franklin worked to better himself through improving his image and his money making ability.…
