Ben Carson has impacted my personal life by motivating me to be more diligent in my studies. In his early life Carson never really had much. He lived in inner city - Detroit in a small house, with just his mother and brother. Sonya Carson, Ben's mother, was the person who pushed him to do better than just average. "Mother had a clear understanding of how things would be for us boys" says Carson about his mother. Although, Sonya had her own struggles, she was still "hard working, goal oriented, driven to demanding the best of herself in any situation, refusing to settle for less." She provided an example of not just surviving but of succeeding, which was an example, a motivation some would say, to her two sons Ben and Curtis.
