Many know Ben Carson for separating Siamese twins or his medical breakthroughs. But many do not know he was born into a poor family, and he has been through many rough times in his life. Ben Carson is now a world-class surgeon and politician. After examining Ben Carson's life, one sees how his desire to succeed, his compassion for others, and his trust in God make him an excellent role model. Ben Carson's desire to succeed makes him an excellent role model. Carson's mother played a large role in Ben's success. Because of her work, Mrs. Carson was around successful people and understood how they became successful. In Ben's childhood, his mother would constantly say that it was his choice to be successful. Ben applied that too many parts of his life. He went from the lowest in his class to the first in his class. Carson knew what he had to do to get to the top and made that his goal. Once he achieved his goal, he did not stop improving. Ben joined ROTC and learned many important skills like time management and how to be a leader. …show more content…
Ben grew up in a very poor community in Detroit. When Carson was eight years old, his father left his family. Ben was heartbroken and his mother was struggling to pay for all of their expenses. Today, Mr. Carson is the United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. During a C-SPAN interview, Carson discusses what his next steps will be for HUD. His goal is to provide quality education for children in poor communities. Carson understands the struggles that many people all over the world have, and he wants to help children that are in the same position as he was. Mr. Carson believes that the only way to help people in need is to get the community to work together to restore these problems. By exhibiting these qualities, one sees how Ben Carson is an admirable role
