Carson successfully separated twins who were joined at the top of the head. Likewise, Benjamin went on to detach adult craniopagus twins. This type of surgery on adults has never been attempted, for the reason that death is usually the outcome (Worlds Biography). Perhaps, this was the biggest medical obstacle Carson has ever taken on. The craniopagus twins later went on to pass away during surgery. Carson told the press that what these twins contributed to science would live far beyond what they did (Worlds Biography).
