Belly Of The Beat Grime Analysis

There’re a lot of kids my age who go with what the mainstream media and listen to what they tell them is cool. I never was that kind of person, and don’t think I’ll ever be. Not saying that the mainstream media content is purely bad but I just can’t listen to most of music they put out. Music to me is a really special thing that makes me feel some type of way. Don’t intentionally search for new music, I like to just have the music find me. When i’m out and about and I hear a certain song that catches my attention I have to stop what I’m doing and figure out who’s it by and the name.

My first and top of my list on my favorite songs would have to be “Tear You Apart” By She Wants Revenge. An American rock band formed in 2004. I believe I found

A totally independent musician who directs, makes and stars in her own music. Grime’s music can be categorized as Synth pop or Electronic pop music. The first time I heard this song I was in my friends car and we had on the alternative radio station on her song came on. Grimes made it to the list because her unique style of composing music along with her unique voice drew me in more than I’d like to believe.

Third on my list is a song called “My Girls” By Animal Collective. This Experimental pop band made in 2003 has some very colorful ways of mixing really old fashioned love songs and giving them a little twist. I listened to their entire album with a person I was romantically involved with and now I cannot listen to one of their songs without thinking of that person. A bit cliche but nevertheless true. This would make it to the list because I’m a little bit nostalgic.

Getting close to the end but fourth on my list is a song called “Asleep” by the infamous David Bowie. An amazing songwriter, sing, actor he’s iconic for all loads of reasons. His song asleep made the list because just like the song title suggest, I was trying to go to sleep and I randomly pulled this song up and it worked. Out like a light, David Bowie put me to sleep with his very intricate lyrics and

Für Elise by Beethoven is the song that expresses who I am. When I started playing piano, I got frustrated that most of my family had a natural talent while I didn't. My father talked to me and gave me one of the most important lessons of my life: "Practice makes perfection, if you want something, insist until you get it". After playing piano as a hobby, at age 17 I decided to take my skills to the next level by taking piano lessons at college and I challenged myself to first learn how to play Für Elise. It wasn't easy, but practice made perfection.…

I choose the songs “Walkin’ After Midnight” by Patsy Cline (1957), “Darkest Valley” by Group 1 Crew (2012), and “Who I Am Hates Who I’ve Been” by Relient K (2004). I choose these three pieces because they are all something that I listen to regularly and they demonstrate a variety of styles in music. Patsy Cline was an iconic female country singer that won awards at the Deejay Convention, won Billboard’s “Most Promising Country & Western Female Artist,” and Music Vendor’s “Greatest Achievement in Records” all just for “Walking After Midnight” (Jones, 1994, p. 159). “Walkin’ After Midnight” music was written by Alan Block and the lyrics were written by Don Hecht ("Walkin' After Midnight." Second Hand Songs - A Cover Songs Database.).…

Most pop songs are very repetitive; some people ridicule it for that reason, while others recognise that the reason pop music is popular is because of repetition. One example of this is “Bittersweet Symphony” by The Verve, with over 109 million views on…

I chose the song "Break Up In A Small Town" because it accurately describes my life. About 6 months ago, my boyfriend and I broke up. Once we broke up I started talking to one of his friends, but not out of spite. We seemed very compatible and liked each other very much. I actually started listening to this song during the mess, and told everyone that the song described my life perfectly.…

Oh Huckleberry Hound, the cartoon doggie, I loved him! Well, I neither knew very well to what the phrase 'Huckleberry friend' meant and for that reason Huckleberry Finn always came to my mind :) but reading to its own authors, 'Huckleberry friend' would be synonym of 'very very special good friend, that has been in your life for years, someone who stuck to you, and follows you to wherever you go', no matter where, and is with you in good times and bad. 'Stranger on the shore' is so beautiful, Ken, I love it. The other songs you mentioned are very good too, so these are the songs you would like to listen as if they were in the air, and they were activated, by a invisible hand, in every special moment of your life.…

A ton of great music came out in 1975 including, Bob Dylan's Blood on the Tracks, Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here, Queen's A Night at the Opera, Aerosmith's Toys in the Attic, Led Zeppelin's Physical Graffiti, the Who's The Who By Numbers, Steely Dan's Katie Lied and Rush's Fly by Night just to name a few. As all of these albums celebrate their 40th anniversary, I'm reminded of just how important 1975 was for music. While each of these recordings were monumental, there are four that standout as groundbreaking, Fleetwood Mac's self titled debut, Patti Smith's Horses, Bruce Springsteen's Born to Run and David Bowie's Young Americans. Fleetwood Mac was a blues band that emerged out of England in the late 1960s. After a brief stint with Bob Welch they were seeking a new sound.…

The first song I selected to be on Philip’s Playlist is Be Here Long by NeedtoBreathe. I chose this song because I believe that it represents how Philip feels about losing his dad, specifically with the lyric “I’m swimming in the grief and there’s no anchor that could hold me down” Philip is at the age where he’s old enough to understand what happened to his dad, but not old enough to properly cope with it, feeling that his dad left him here. This is shown by the lyric “I’m still here and I’m missing you”. This song describes missing someone and having to deal with it, which is the situation Philip is currently in at the very beginning of the book.…

The song that I chose is “the climb”, by Miley Cyrus, the reason I chose this song is because when I was younger I would always go around the house singing this song without realizing the strong meaning behind it. There is many literary devices in “The Climb” one of them is mountain that she is climbing, it is a symbol for life barriers. Another literally device that is used is personification, when Cyrus says “but there’s a voice inside my head saying you’ll never reach it”. In addition the line “there’s always gonna be another mountain, im always gonna wanna make it move”, is a metaphor for having to deal with problems that occur in life. The climb does not have a rhyme scheme it is a free verse.…

I choose “stickwitu” as my falling in love song because I love all that is said within this song. This song is beautiful all around not only is the beat amazing but also the lyrics. Throughout high school people are in relationships and tend to just break up and throw all their love away as if love is not even valuable anymore. I know that i'm young and will meet many people along the road but once I found someone who appreciates me and loves me for me i will stick with him.…

Thirdly, what made Revolver different than most Beatles albums is George Harrison would usually do every guitar solos for the band (except a few by Lennon). In the song “Taxman”, Harrison was having a great deal of trouble with this solo causing tension and frustration in the studio (enter source here). Even when they slowed the tape down, Harrison still could not do it. The band watched him struggle for hours, until McCartney took the solo himself. In “Taxman”, his guitar solo was one of the decade's finest solos.…

The song I chose is “Surfin’ U.S.A.”, is characterized by the Beach Boys. I chose this song because of how laid back the tune sounds and makes me want to relax. It’s relaxing because the song reminds me of the beach and the sounds of the waves. In the song it talks about how they will be gone for the summer and to tell the teacher they have gone surfing. The summer always reminds me of the beach and all the surfers in the water.…

At times I wonder what life would be like if there was a soundtrack playing in the background. The soundtrack would continue to play capturing every moment in life, although having a soundtrack playing in the background of my life is an impossible idea, there are still those certain songs that seem to sing in my head for every moment I have experienced in my life. I am frequently at a loss of words, but when I hear the right melody, everything falls in place it connects me with memories, places, people, and experiences. I have hundreds of songs that I listen to, but I want to focus on three that have a significant meaning to my life they are How Big are Angel Wings by Ashton Shepherd, True Friend by Miley Cyrus and How Can I Help You Say Goodbye…

When I was just a toddler, I would try to climb in the dishwasher and take everything out while mom was trying to do the dishes. In order to keep me from doing that, dad needed to play video games as long as they entranced me. One of the games he played was The Legend of Zelda. Growing up with this game and spending time with my dad while he played it fueled the love I developed for this game and it’s music. The first four songs on the soundtrack of my life, composed by Koji Kondo, are songs from that video game.…
