For two reasons, the first had been how predictable his patterns had become. Micah had easily found where Frank had the hidden bunker that he had been keeping Bella and the others only from a few days of following him, which shows that Frank hadn’t been careful and have been aware of his surroundings. If he had changed his route to the barn every so often, it would have been possible that he could have prevented Micah joining them in the bunker. If Micah had been able to follow Frank so easily a Nazi soldier who had grown suspicious of Frank could have done the same ruining the safety bunked and potentially killing Bella and the others. Secondly from a psychological perspective Frank seems as someone who is fragile and unpredictable, which had made sense why Bella and the rest had decided it best not to tell him about his wife’s affair.
