Believe In Stereotypes

Improved Essays
People believe in stereotypes and think that they are true since they mostly trust in their feelings or thoughts; but, they are completely not true. They let these judgments get to them and always be cautious around others; which also makes others uncomfortable and be questions about themselves as well. However, all these reasons are simply opinions and what people see on their appearance. Every individual is unique in their own that they should be proud of themselves.

Stereotypes are everywhere in the world. Our ridged expectations of a community are sometimes all we know about that certain group. The students had a preconceived idea about the Harvard students being snobby and the Law students thought the students would not take the task seriously. This chapter really hit on many stereotypes throughout the chapter and how powerful it can be when stereotypes are broken. I would never think to take my class on a field trip to a courthouse to participate in a mock trial.…

Can you think of any real-world contexts in which automatic stereotypes might have a detrimental effect on how whites treats blacks? Some real-world contexts in which automatic stereotypes might have a detrimental effect on the way whites treats blacks would be the police shooting on black men. Stereotyping has lead to some police officers think that black men are all the same thieves and hoodlums. This leads to detrimental effects because a police officer that views back men in this way, changes his behavior to be more aggressive then he might have been with a white person.…

In high school, I went to a predominantly black school and I witnessed not only myself, but also my friends being put into a certain group because of our skin color. When we would go play basketball we would be known as the “white boys” and all people thought we could do was shoot. I thought that maybe it was because they had never seen us before, but then my opinion changed.…

I believe that only you should only breed rabbits, like dogs and cats. A responsible breeder only breeds when they have room for the babies and know what they are going to do with the offspring. For instance, I breed rabbits for show, pets, and meat, when I have a litter born I first sort through them for show quality and if I want to keep them for breeders. The ones I do not keep will be put up for sale between the show community first, then as pets, and if I still have babies left, I grow them out and butcher them for meat. I always have a backup plan.…

I wrote my argument piece last November on the idea that single sex schools and classrooms reinforce stereotypes. I believe that overall my assignment was very persuasive and I made some very convincing points. I talked about how in single sex schools, tomboys would not be able to have the chance to hang around with and talk to boys that they may want to do. This point is very personal and any tomboys who would read my presentation would understand what it would feel like. The quote is very meaningful and I’m sure many people would be able to relate to it.…
