Compare And Contrast Ancient Greece And Caste System

Belief systems in Ancient India and Greece have affected each government in different ways. In India their religion was the basis for creating a strict social structure and determining who was in charge, while in Greece, philosophy and humanism were widely popular and this lead to a looser, more people driven government and social structure. India created their social structure and government around their religion. The caste system, their social structure, was completely based off of their sacred texts in the Rig Veda which made the system very rigid and strict. This also lead to exclusivity of power and authority, only particular people were given the opportunities to make changes and express their ideas. In Greece, people started to follow humanism and were much more philosophical. This lead to a more relaxed and reasonable social structure and government. This resulted in a democracy which limited the power permitted to certain citizens. However, some might argue that both civilizations are more alike than different because they both believed in the idea of fate. They believed that a person’s decisions would affect them later on whether it be in their afterlife or during their present life. Firstly, India and Greece are different because both civilizations had different approaches on how to strengthen the social structure and government in order for their societies to thrive.
