As I am sure my fellow colleges know, Belgium was invaded by Germany during The Great War, due to their tactical belief of going through us, into France, and successfully winning the war. I am happy to know that we have won, but at what cost? I can assure you gentlemen that we were hit the worst, and this is why I am here today. The decimation as a result of Germany’s warpath is tremendous, and much of Belgium’s architecture and farmland is ruined. Not only this, but, as my college stated, they slaughtered around a hundred thousand Belgian people and an abundance of our troops. This is the reason, on behalf of the Belgian population, that I have decided to keep Belgium in the League of Nations. Without the combined effort of the allies, Belgium
