Week Three Devotional
God is in the people business and the command is simple; go, baptize, and teach. Why? Because Jesus, being in the form of God thought it not robbery to be equal with God, said so. The slave is not greater than the Master and as His bond servants, our obedience is not optional but is a requirement.
“Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God” (Rom 10:17 KJV). It seems that as we get older we become our hearing diminishes. We hear differently from age group to age group. It seems children today, learn very quickly and their ability to mimic what their parents do is amazing.
From their earliest beginnings, they are absorbing information like a sponge. So, it is a good thing to start teaching children about God as early as possible. The Bible teaches us “Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will

Studying our students as to their strengths, and weaknesses gives us direction as to how we are to proceed with the class. Also, different age groups have different attention spans and a teacher should be creative in capturing the student’s attention. Those seeking to teach have to be taught themselves how to relate to the various age groups.
As a Sunday school teacher, the age group that I am most familiar with is from young adults to senior citizens. As an adult teacher, I had to be taught a few things and from a class “Teaching Adults with Confidence”, I learned about the three “C’s”, compassion, content, and collaboration.
“The best teachers of adults seek help from members of the class through advice and coaching and by involving the class members in class leadership opportunities. One effective way to make use of the complementary skills of class members is through team teaching” (Loth & Jezek, 2004, pp. 24-25).
