Being threatened with a gun is a worst case scenario and if the attacker only wants your valuables then the safest option is to give it to them. The only time that you should try to fight back against a gun is when there is no other option and you know that your life is in danger, for example, if they just shot your companion and now they are turning the gun at you or if they want you to go to another location with them.

Remember, once you get into a car with them, your chances of being found alive are not very good.

Be aware that in order for a gun defense to work you MUST be close enough to touch them without having to step or run towards them, you cannot step as fast as their finger can pull the trigger. If you do decide to act

What if they get the drop on you, catch you by surprise or suddenly grab you. What do you do then? This is where your empty hand skills and better yet your karambit can come into play.

You may be able to counter attack with your karambit until you can get to your gun. If grabbed perhaps you can cut yourself free, allowing you to get to your firearm. All the firearms training in the world won’t help you if you can’t get your weapon out of the holster and be able to engage the threat.

You never know what type of a situation you will be in and while a gun is a great equalizer at a distance, a karambit works as well if not better when up close and personal.

Gun scenario #1 - The attacker comes up from behind and demands cash. As 'A' is reaching for his 'wallet' he grabs his karambit, spins, grabbing the gun hand and moving off-line

Slashes to the arm to disarm the attacker. Note: Do not let go of the hand holding the gun.

Gun scenario #2 - The attacker confronts player 'A' from the front. 'A' moves his hands up to a non-threatening position. Here he moves off-line, grabs the gun and pulls the karambit in one smooth
