Aggie shared: “Someone suggested that Cleveland PH might attempt to send speakers to all the Cleveland-area high schools to talk about sororities. I was so enthusiastic that, you guessed it, they made me chairwoman. This will be a major undertaking for Cleveland PH and I am looking forward to setting up this new type of speaker’s…
Although my high school years are mostly defined through academic success, I would have to say my most meaningful achievements came through the North Carolina FFA. This national organization provides me with countless opportunities to showcase my leadership abilities in my school, community, and state. Obtaining the positions of Vice President and President of my high school FFA chapter has had an enormous impact on my life. These positions led to serving on nominating committees, planning community events, attending leadership conventions and conferences, and participating in a state-qualifying parliamentary procedure team. It was these experiences that gave me a passion for public speaking and Agribusiness.…
During the my high school years I have participated in the State College Area High School Renaissance Faire. At this time I have 2 different leadership positions one involves teaching a group of students to sword fight and the other leadership position involves advertising the club to the school. As a part of this club I have learned to speak in front of other people. Since my Sophomore year of high school I have participated in the chamber orchestra group at my high school. This group is for the advanced orchestra students.…
The four pillars of National Honors Society have greatly influenced my life in high school. It is something I will definitely carry over to my later life as a college student and as an adult. Becoming a part of The Youth Grantmaking Council has definitely made me a stronger leader and has impacted my community service involvement. The Youth Grantmaking Council (YGC) has stressed the need of philanthropy in our community. Being involved within the community is something that I think is very keen.…
I am Ashleigh Hockman. Some will see me as a normal American high school student with a simple small town education. I’d like to open up to you the parts most people don’t see about me. Here’s what people see me as: a student, an athlete, and a club member. That's pretty good to be seen as, right?…
Through diligently working and volunteering my freshman year, I was recognized by the advisor who then continued to create the role of parliamentarian specifically for me. As a junior I was voted vice-president by my peers and earned the position of president by senior…
Through student council I have worked closely with my teachers and advisors to better my school by bringing our student body together for events such as pep rallies and competitive games during homecoming week. I have also made great friendships with peers outside of my usual classrooms which has helped shape me into a well rounded person. With National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society, we have bettered our community through projects such as a can food drive and buying Christmas gifts for children in need. National Honor Society has also helped me gain connections with our local Special Olympics where I volunteered this past year and plan to continue volunteering. As a member of Mu Alpha Theta, I helped to donate school supplies to children in need as well as a food drive and buying Christmas gifts for more children.…
Leadership is imperative to supporting the foundation of succession in our society. It is important that we exercise our God given right to utilize our sphere of influence to the best of our abilities. Although leadership may gain you more recognition throughout society it is not about the affluence one can acquire; leading is solely about guiding others down a path of success so that future generations can more easily learn from our mistakes to pass down to the next generation. That is why I believe mentoring and any position of leadership should be central to young adults to set the example for the impactful youth. I found my sphere of influence to be within the academic driven chapter of the National Honor Society which in my senior year I was elected president.…
As a student of De Pere High School, I, Abby; try my best to show a good example of how a De Pere High School student should represent themselves. Showing a good example for other students has always been very important to me. I show the students how to apply themselves to become better people whether it’s in or out of school. As I make an impact on others, I hope to make a big enough impact so that they will want to keep impacting others as well. Leadership is the one big thing that helps you impact others, and I believe that I show that at De Pere High School.…
During the short weekend, I was overwhelmed by the many leadership development activities available to me and after using them was able to grow stronger as a leader. I was able to bring many of the skills taught to me back to my Student Council. After attending HSLC, I was inspired to become a better leader in my school and in the Student Council. As District 4 Vice President, one of my many roles was to organize the Fall Conference for all of District 4. This included all aspects of organizing the event such as putting together groups of leaders, making sure everything runs smoothly, and designing a t-shirt for the event.…
Politics was something that was never passed on to me. My mother, a native Cuban who witnessed the Cuban Revolution at a very young age, and my father, the son of a Pennsylvanian blue-collar worker, have never been deeply involved in politics. They never thought, however, that they would have a son who would be engaged in government. Currently, I serve as the chair of the Florida High School Democrats, the official caucus of High School Students at the Florida Democratic Party. I created this organization to increase awareness of government and to combat voter apathy, a recurring theme within the youth community.…
Student leadership is much more complicated to define than one might think. Leadership is defined as the act or instance of leading, and a student is defined a person that attends any form of school or a person who is studying a subject. Therefore, student leadership is defined as any student who is leading among their peers. While this is the definition, some people falsely use the term or interpret it in ways that lead the group being lead in the wrong direction.…
For the next three years, I was not only an active member in the Student Council, but I was also one of the 4 people who held student body positions. I was completely inspired by the idea of organizing events and helping out the…
Obviously Ricky has other employees that he manages. So it is important to inform those employees about the delegation as well. He chose Bill because of his three year experience in the contracts group. However, there isn't any mention of addressing Ricky's other employees.…
Critical Reflection on Leadership Leadership is hard to talk about, mostly because it is somewhat vague and very conceptual. However, what we have talked about over the semester has helped me to gain a better understanding about what leadership is. I have also gained more knowledge pertaining to the different ways that a person might lead. After a lot of self-reflection I have determined the reasons why I lead, and why I want to become a good leader in the future.…
