If I heard one of my friends or family making a prejudicial joke or comment I work correct them. The main problem is that we don’t correct our own, doesn’t matter if your black, white E.T.C because I guess when its said its not toward your race. But just like in the case study we must educate our family and friends who seem not to understand that being racist and prejudice is wrong and ignorant because every culture and race has horrible people along with good people. So, no I wouldn’t protest. I remember walking minding my own business and this strange guy called me a “nigger” of course I was highly upset but I saw that he was drunk and then I said to him while you call me that horrible name I’m still going to live life and be successful and

I would take a knee for that. Nowadays, bias news networks make it hard to know when one is even getting the real story or not, and the fight against problems like aversive racism are not very clear cut; we cannot get inside of someone’s mind to determine if they are racist, and they may not even know themselves. And with how fast things move these days, by the time I figure out what is actually happening, people have already moved on to a new issue; I may have to take a knee just out of exhaustion. Luckily, this kneeling debate has gone on for quite some time, I know where I…

Racism has turned our society into one full of hate and discrimination based of skin color and cultural beliefs. Unfortunately, discrimination has done more than just separate individuals socially it has also divided them into high and low economic classes. We have created a society in which people who are born into lower classes are unable to climb the social ladder and reach an elite economic status. Our society has made it almost impossible for those who are not in power to ever reach such a position. We have created a society in which those who are suffering will continue to suffer and be looked at as a having no value or ability to contribute to the success of the economy and structure of society.…

The Persistence of Prejudice Women of America were denied many privileges given to men during the 19th century simply because it was presumed that they would rather be in the kitchen than involved in politics; they were told that only “true” women dedicated their lives to solely working in their house as a mother and a wife. These prejudicial notions and stereotypical ideas obstructed women from reaching their full potential. Eventually, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott decided that the countries vision of women must change. They gathered over 300 anonymous individuals who believed that men are in no way superior to women and should not assume that women prefer to be in the kitchen (19th Amendment). Their willingness to act against…

Minorities are to blame for everything wrong in the world. That statement is what many satirists are writing about. Satirists are running with the idea of mocking racists ideals. Carlos Hoyt Jr., a social-work teacher, depicts racism as a term originally crafted to “frame a phenomenon that, by the early part of the 20th century (having emerged in the 19th century enterprise of classifying peoples according to a racial hierarchy) was powerful, distinct, and in need of nomenclature” (225). Satirists are addressing police brutality, discrimination, criminal injustice, and overall bias.…

The United States is a country built on the oppression of others. It started with the brutalization of the Native Americans, then the capture and enslavement of thousands of Africans, and even today continues on through the mistreatment and underpaying of many immigrate groups. In the United States and even in other countries people are sold the idea of the American Dream, a philosophy that states that anyone can succeed in American if their willing to work hard enough, but so far it is still only a dream. Racism has always been around, however, recently there has been plentiful of distasteful events happening. Considering that I am an African American myself, the recent events related to what happened in Charlottesville is upsetting.
