Substance Abuse In Being Mary Jane

Being Mary Jane is a drama television series about a TV news anchor that lives in Atlanta, Georgia as a single woman that has everything she could ask for besides the husband and children she desires. In the series it displays a number of things such as her love for family and always being the one everyone calls when they’re in need of help or need something financially. She also struggles with trying to make change within her job as a news anchor; being able to report about real issues other than the news she is provided. It also shows her relationships with different men as she tries to fulfill her dream of having a family of her own. The series touch on topics such as gay male relationships, race and the effect it has in the work place, as well as drug abuse and the impact it has on your surroundings. The writers have no limit to the extent they would go to get the message out. Being that the main character is female, the power she has in her work as the leading news anchor leave the views to believe that woman can hold the same power as a man but with a lot more on their plate. She tackles the challenges as if they’re nothing when, in a male denominated business woman are expected to fail. The intended message would typical be that woman can handle both business and personal as to where men would fold under pressure. Giving this television show doesn’t have much of a debut of man and female comparisons, is does display the determination of a female professional and her fight for equalization. Having power in the work place is a trait that men desire but as for women they stride for respect and this television show displays them both.
