I am very sorry for being late today, but I can assurer you I have a good reason to be. My morning has been crazy and hectic from the moment I woke up to when I finally arrived in school. First, my alarm did not go off because when I woke up it was smashed to pieces. Only my clock was touched and I did not give it much thought since I was panicking needing to get ready for school although as soon as i walked out of my room I was greeted by my brother who erupted in a string of “sorry” over and over. I said I did not have time we needed to get ready. To make up for breaking my clock he offered to make me a lunch to ack. What he made was disgusting! He game me a sandwich with pickles, cheese, and mayo on it. While making something edible, a

Better to Be Ahead I have been doing the same routine for the last 12 years now, wake up at the crack of dawn, rush to get myself ready and try to look at least a little presentable. I’d get to school and have to listen to the teachers lecture us about how we aren’t going anywhere in life and have to put up with immature kids who just want to mess around at school all day. I put up with all of this all because I want a good education and to be able to make my family proud. “What are you going to College for?” “Are you going to College?”…

The Skill of Anticipation I have been playing tennis since I was five years old, and having a good anticipation skill helped me to succeed. Since childhood, I have been playing defensive style tennis while staying mostly on the baseline. In order to succeed and win matches, I had to run a lot during the competition and play many long rally points. Due to my playing style, I needed to conserve energy during the tennis tournaments to perform at the best possible level. Because of my playing style, I have developed my anticipation skills through playing a lot of tennis tournaments, and that experience helped me during tennis competitions.…

What Was I Doing I woke up at eight o’clock in the morning like any other day. I got out of the bed and pulled open the curtains to see what a beautiful day it was outside. The sky was crystal blue; the sun was shining, with a slight breeze. I could not have asked for a more perfect day. I went to the kitchen poured a glass of orange juice; and made some bacon, eggs, and toast for breakfast.…

Who am I? This question has been on my mind lately. Just to think about it, brings me feelings of a doubt and uneasiness. Many times I was told that it is impossible to figure out what is behind my defiant and troublesome face. While growing up the foodwork within my household was not shared equally among both my parents. Even with a full-time job, my mom did both lunch, and dinner cooking; my mom would prepare lunch before she left for work early morning. When cooking my mom would do everything from start to the end without any help, which included washing, cutting, cooking, and the cleaning-up process. After watching my mom be the primary homemaker, I have learned to accept that this is a requirement for all women, and it is your job to be a homemakers after marriage. When comparing it to now, the time constraint theory is shown since my mom left her full-time job for a part time job, hence she has more time for foodwork duties (Brady, Power, Szabo & Gingras, 2017).…

The second I stepped onto the bus, the waves of voices filled my ears. The seats were full of kids laughing, talking and listening to music. It was obvious that no one was paying attention to me and I was fine with that. I found an empty seat at the very front of the bus and sat down and then plugged in my headphones. As the bus pulled off, I leaned back and closed my eyes, lost in my music.…

Time flies. My first semester as a freshman has ended. In my view, this is the most tiring semester I have ever had, because I have to stay up late and get up at seven o’clock; meanwhile, this is the most amazing semester I have ever had for the fantastic people I have met so far. Before I come to this class, my strength lay in reading, analyzing and understanding articles. I could always grasp the central idea of the article precisely, which is a gift inherited from my mother.…

Not a Day Sooner In every encounter, people who cross our path leave a part of themselves with us. Their words, wisdom, or humour is a gift of God. I find that the Holy Spirit will call to remembrance some of these unusual moments to illustrate a truth or impress a teaching upon the heart of another, and all we are doing is telling a story. Jesus was a master real-life storyteller, and that is why His teachings impact us in life today.…

A Turning Point Many events occur during a person’s lifetime, some heal the soul and others leave an unpleasant scar. Either way, by time, all of those events come together to give that person a memorable experience that will not be forgotten. I have faced many terrific circumstances, some of which gave me good memories and some gave me terrible experiences. However, the most remarkable event in my life was an exceptional one, one that made me realize that no matter how bad things get, there will always be something better.…

When I am about to drive home after my shift, I examine my face in the rear-view mirror. If I only knew how to change, to make me a protagonist again. Looking the part would at least be a starting point. I shrug, and start the motor.
