Being Creative Research Paper

I always thought that I knew what creativity meant, I thought to be creative you had to be good at drawing detailed art, or you weren’t creative. Growing up I realized that that was not always the case, there is beauty in everything and it takes a creative mind to see it. I am not an artistic person, I have always liked drawing, but I was not very good at it. I very recently found out that there is more to art than just drawing. Of course, I always knew about the other arts such as dance, and music, but I never thought about other things being considered art such as photography, interior design and, and graphic design. With that, I do feel that being creative means you must be able to come up with an idea and make it your own, or being able to find the beauty in the simple things. …show more content…
I do not find myself as a creative person since I cannot picture something in my head, I must look at something similar to get inspired from. Growing up in the 21st century many things feel that they have already been done before in each category, not only do people must be more creative, but their work now must seem more original. I do feel that in the 21st century it is easier to be more creative since many people are looking for a piece of art to have a shock factor. It does not limit anyone to stick to one type of style or art form. I feel that now people are being more exposed to art younger, and younger, which helps bring innovative ideas from each generation that we have not seen or thought of

As you said in class, we have to measure it. When we are talking about the kind of creativity that can be taught, it is actually the kind of creativity that use reverse thinking for me. For example, we know what a normal alarm clock’s appearance and functionalities, then we think other than those properties as long as it is still an alarm clock. The normal alarm clock makes noise to wake you up, and then we use vibration instead. Being creativity, in this case, is making new ideas and designs in the way that different from others.…

After reading your work from Essay Workshop and Advanced Creative Nonfiction, the subject matter is expected and concerned with reaching beyond what some might only see as simple, ugly, or undesirable. The specificity of your intention in examining Clarion and its culture is articulated well and with confidence. I think your plan on having the narrative told out of chronological order, showcasing scenes of the past, present, and eventually one in the future is a wonderful creative choice for this kind of nonfiction piece. The creative possibilities in such a technique I think will showcase and juxtapose growth, tone, and character development within the characters and the setting itself throughout the narrative in an effective and profound way that could be lost if simply left linear. The non-chronological order is much more ambitious and circular in how the chapters and character beats relate to one another on a thematic and personal level.…
