Administering different types of drugs, infecting innocent and defenseless animals with diseases, poisoning, implantations, and causing brain damage are just some of the elements of what animal experimentation truly is. Cosmetics, cleaning supplies, and personal care products are only a small fraction of the many products used frequently by people that are tested regularly on animals for research-based and scientific studies. Although some may be completely unaware of, we use a number of these products more often than we would like to think. There are people who view animals as innocent creatures who cannot possibly fend for themselves, yet there are also others who view animals as testing material for human benefit. While this …show more content…
Particular points that supporters of animal testing came up with was that without animal experimentation, humans would be absolutely nowhere (Rowan 85). These supporters also declared human life is much more meaningful than the lives of animals considering the whole idea of evolution and natural selection (Rowan 87). Natural selection is expressed as a process by nature in which organisms with favorable traits, such as humans in this case, are more able and have a much greater mindset over animals, while evolution is the gradual process in which something changes into a more complex form. Therefore, humans allegedly prevail over other organisms and has placed humans “on top”. Seemingly, the people who are in support of the testing of animals should have some type of knowledge in this subject assuming they have a firm stance. Contrarily, the ones who use products that are tested on animals may or may not have if any knowledge on this subject, just an opinion. Bias in my intended audience may be somewhat of an issue concerning the people who view animals as testing material. These people may be very insistent on their stance and not willing to change it. I want to address how animal experimentation is morally wrong with facts and evidence that proves it. Furthermore, I believe the people who are for animal …show more content…
They also mention the practice of the 3Rs, reduction of the use of animals, refinement of the way experiments are carried out, and replacement of the animals used with non-living models. These three guiding principles encompass the points that scientists need to consider when testing animals for scientific purposes. They go into more detail describing what the 3Rs actually mean in terms of the use of animals in experimentation for research based and scientific studies. I think this article will be of great use to me considering that I am searching for potential alternatives to the use of animals in testing as well as defending my side of the
